Mission

The Hayden Library exists to provide information and ideas to all users. It affords the opportunities for students to appreciate literature and the cultural arts, to learn creative thinking skills, to become critical seekers of information and ideas and to use instructional and educational technology effectively so they may become independent life-long learners and decision makers.

Services

The main service of the library is the circulation of books and materials along with a computer friendly environment. Both students and teachers are encouraged to use resources available in the library. A list of available library services is as follows:

  • Computers are available for student use in the event they forget to bring their Chrome Book to school
  •  Reference searches for both teachers & students

  • Teaching library reference along with basic library skills

Chrome Books are now a big part of the learning experience and the library offers the following:

  • Poster Board at a cost of .50 cents per sheet
  • Laminating at .25 cents per sheet
  •  Black & White printing in the library is FREE
  • Color printing is NOT available
  • All books are available for checkout for a 2 week time frame
  • There is no fine for overdue books
  •  Lost books are charged as follows: 

o   $20 for hardback books

o   $15 for softback books

o   $7.50 for paperback books

  • Chrome Book power supplies are available for checkout 

Availability

The Hayden Library is available to students during the school day and before and until 4 p.m. after school. Hours are extended on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. All library services are available during these hours.

When students come to the library they must have a note signed by their classroom teacher. Students who come to the library are asked to check-in at the circulation desk. When leaving the library the student needs to be sign out at the circulation desk.

The library door to the parking lot is only to be used after the school building is closed. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings students must enter and leave through the parking lot door. The doors to the main building will be locked and the main building is not available for students to retrieve books and supplies. All materials should be brought with them.
